I know, I know.

I said I will be back with more stuff.
I didn't.
I said I will refresh this blog.
I didn't.

I don't have any excuses, I just changed completely ONCE again my thesis.
*pftch, women*

We are back with our primary plan. Woman gladiator arena hobo-like environment and stuff.

I'm back to coding in Unity and it feels good after all this time with my irrelevant school projects. Which I really DON'T like.

So, uhm,

This eeeh is aaaa uhm.... an evil cube. This is my evil cube. I'm coding this atm. My sweet evil cube. He can autoattack with a 2 sec cooldown my Player, he can follow and target me and he is super evil and mean.

I promise promise PROMISE that this time, I will commit to this.

It's been a while...

Yeap, like months.

Of course our project kinda went to sleep for the past 2 months since I had finals and other school projects going on. But now we're here, fresh and ready to see our baby taking its first steps.

So. Our graphics are totally new, totally different. They're all minecraft-ish (since Lazaros loves this and he's the designer here and I can't contribute with something more than a potato door).

I will give you a brief example. Our game guide - we used to call him "angel" - used to be this piece of art:

and we were into this kind of graphics for our game.
Well. After the "minecraft rebellion" our new guide (no, he's definitely not an angel) is this cute little fella:

with the fountain where the luminaries will swim freely.

Now I'm kinda stuck with some gravity issues considering the player when a platform rotates but I will just figure it out. Or I won't. I don't know. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A MOTIVATIONAL BLOG AND IM SABOTAGING MYSELF.

That's all for now! I will update (this time not after 3 months) whenever we have some more progress worth showcasing.

Cheers! ^_^

Small catch up

Well the big news here is that I got the permission from a professor of mine to begin working on our game as my diploma thesis. In addition to his, I'm also going to publish a paper on AI, since our game IS GOING TO HAVE STUFF LIKE THIS IN IT!

I'm going to update you guys with more amazing thingies later on.

Thy brain is melting.

And I'm serious. Our brains almost became water tonight.

We started working on the level design, with Lazaros (ok this is his name, I can't call him partner forever, it's not like we're Bonnie and Clyde or something) doing some basic graphics just to set up the gameplay and storyline. The outcome was something way better than we ever imagined, and we're not even halfway there.

So, I need to inform you about our game. We completely forgot the Roxie scenario. Now we're creating something which will mess with the players' brains. A super mindfuck game. A main hero who will strive for atonement through an exploration-collecting-like gameplay. You go through rooms, you collect lightfish (or how we like to call them - luminaries), you deposit them at a certain place and you just go on and on and on through LOTS of messed up hallways, rooms and staircases.

I'm not in a position to reveal much. But I loved the doodle Lazaros made for our game icon so, here we go!

FISH FISH FISH!

I'm so tired of this small amount of work, since we got to motivate our fantasies to a whole new level. At some point we were exhausted from overthinking stuff and designing new levels.

We're both so excited with this project. Which also has a new name. But I will keep the blog - Panem means bread, we were in a post apocalyptic environment where people were seeking for bread and stuff - 'cause... reasons. Ok, I'm too bored to start a new one and it's always nice to keep a folder of your old thoughts and ideas. We might actually develop an arena fighting game with a female leader role in the future. Who knows.

For now, we're just proud for our offspring, Project Luminary.

We'll keep in touch. As I said, I must stay motivated. Bye.

Scratch that.

I'm now excited with other things. I haven't even started developing basic stuff on our Roxie game, and I already have a list of goals I want to fulfill - we're always talking about videogames huh.

So the partner I mentioned in my first post, is also my best friend along with the fact that he is the most creative, adorable and clever man I know.

So we had an idea - actually he did, while we were vomiting ideas on the table once again - a very cool and awesome idea. We nearly bursted into tears with that one, I'm not even joking. I'm gonna provide you guys (by you I mean my large audience, consisted of me and my partner) with some feedback of our progress.

We're both very excited! If this works out until the end, I'm gonna die from joy.

CYA LADS!

Clearing out some mess

It was about time I'd look up at our draft with our random brain vomit on it and clarify a few things. This should help us a lot. I'm going to be super quick on this one, since there's a bunch of stuff we haven't discussed yet.

As I said before, Roxie is in a post apocalyptic environment, captured by the Outcasts - which is actually the superior tribe in this world. The game will begin with a spirit guide we'd like to implement as a raven, which will tell our fair lady to wake up and that she ain't dead. This raven will help with the tutorials and will appear whenever the player needs clarifications ingame.
Long story short, this raven is gonna be a hell of a carry for Roxie. It will reveal her all the things she needs to know. So, shortly after the raven will tell Roxie that she needs to get to the final boss, but in order to find it, she needs to get deeper to the stronghold.
So we are making levels. We will call each different level "arena". First level is your first arena etc. At the end of each arena you will be able to purchase upgrades and/or weapons. So the main point here is; the Outcasts might have captured you, but you will be released if you win all of the arenas. These tribesmen don't give a single damn for the guys you're fighting - they just accept you everytime at the arenas.

To sum up;

*You win an arena, you get X gold.
*You lose an arena, you get 1/X gold, so as not to feel you've done nothing at all.

And what about the upgrades huh? There's a guy, a random guy who looks like a mix of a hobo and a shaman, who is just left out with all of his merchandise available to everyone. The Outcasts don't give a damn about him either, so he just controls the market (in my head, the "market" looks like a flea one), and he only looks for profit and buyers.

These for now. We have lots of stuff to discuss. Just imagine that our prime idea was a gladiator fighting endlessly and with no purpose in a colosseum, and now we've reached our beloved Roxie fighting tribesmen in arenas.

I'm excited. Hoorah.

First Posterino

So yea, hello.
At the moment I'm trying to keep myself motivated.
Me and my partner (wow... so formal. Much chills) want to develop a game. A fighting game that will turn into something beautiful. After some past midnight brainstorming, we came up to some conclusions:
-Main character is - dun dun duuuun - a woman.
-We're in a post apocalyptic environment where the main tribe - just for the moment we'd like to call them The Outcasts - has captured our little gal, whose name by the way is Roxie. ISN'T THIS NAME JUST AWESOME?
-We still don't know why Roxie is eager to keep fighting and what's her main goal.

These stuff for now. I'm looking forward to an audience that will surpass the amount of... 2.
